What: A fresh start, a long awaited reunion

The world had been falling apart.

Chaos, panic, the ground was shaking, and that was all completely dull and normal to Noir, because Gaia was back!

Only now as he was laying on his back staring up at the leaves in the trees did he realize how many months he had been missing her. It had been tragic, pathetic, absolutely wimpy for a hard core scruffy detective.

Scruffy...that was an understatement. He had a scraggly beard from not shaving and he had been indulging in junk food to the point where his muscles had gotten soft. He was ashamed.

And sore...much more sore then he remembered being. Had he fallen again? Oh yes! He had been running with Gaia one minute and then the next he was crashing through a tree face first.

"Just once...once I would like to land on my feet like Jinx." He mumbled.

Trying to sit so she can properly hug Yu back, Gaia wraps her arms around the young girl, laughing softly as well. "You've grown a bit," she murmurs into her hair, fingers delicately running down strands of the scraggly blond.

"So has papa!" And to tease him she prodded her father's stomach causing him to squirm and scramble to his feet. "Watch it half pint!" he warned.

But she was ignoring him and nuzzling into Gaia and hugging her with the strength of someone twice her age and size.

Laughter bubbles up through Gaia's lips. "Hey, there." Her voice lowers and she wraps her arms around Yu. "Hey. I'm not goin' anywhere."

Yu hid her face in Gaia's blouse nuzzling. "You're not allowed!"

"The next time Yggdrasil tries he'll have to speak to us!" Noir declared twisting and stretching to pop his back after having been tackled off guard.

"Oh, my heroes," Gaia chants, moving so she can hold Yu and kiss Noir's cheek at the same time.

As the family reunites, Suzaku rubs a wing over his head. "Ha, well, at least they're happy."

"We're gonna have to be patient if we want them to get home at this rate." Pico mused with a smile, "But it's nice you know? To see something like this happen when so much crap is going on in this world?"

Laughter breaks from Suzaku's beak. "Yeah, after waking up and getting a tree dropped on me...a little happiness for awhile. ...Yeah."
