What: A very cold and rude awakening from the end of the world
When: Feb 19th, mid-day on
Where: Meria

Fuck it was freezing. Beyond freezing. That kind of cold where you swore your bones were going to freeze inside and leave you a statue in the barren white wasteland that created the cold.

Rin grumbled to himself as he slowly picked up one foot in front of the other, up to his mid-calves in the hard packed snow that only gave when he brought his foot down on it. His tail was wrapped underneath his tattered shirt for whatever warmth he could manage from it, and on his back was a barely conscious Lombax.

All around them, whiteness seemed to stretch out for miles with the wind only whipping up more white, blocking any sense of vision from further out than a few hundred feet. As much as Rin could resist and regenerate from, he was already starting to feel a heaviness sinking in to his lungs and dragging weariness down in to his bones even more than the cold itself. Ratchet was still breathing, but barely, and at this rate they would be lucky if they survived another few hours.

Was this hell? Had Chaosmon succeeded in destroying everything, including them? He didn't know. He just knew that he had to keep going, keep moving, and hope to whatever deity was listening that something would take pity on a half frozen half demon and a Lombax.

Ratchet groaned as he kept walking, his own body feeling heavy. That damn structure was so far away...was he going to make it? In the end he knew if he fell, Rin would need to choose the kid, Alec, over him. The boy was more important right now. He felt his vision waver for a moment and fell to one knee. Shit...he fucking hated the cold.

Nodding, Alec looked around, "They were...at the hospital. With Daira and Dart and Daisuke..."

"Alec, dear, we'll find them. I'm sure your mom and dad are looking for you."

Rin started to say something to Alec, but stopped when he heard Ratchet groan and fall behind him.

"'ey, Alec-kun, I'm gonna put you on my back, 'kay? Try to hold on tight." he said, shifting the boy to his back and putting Alec's small arms over his shoulders.

"Don't give up on me now, Ratchet..." he grumbled, reaching down to drag the Lombax to his feet by his arm.

Ratchet nodded as he hauled to his feet and kept walking. "I'm fine...let's just keep going." He felt something churning in his stomach again and the urge to cough. He kept it down though, breathing slowly as he did. He needed to stay strong. They were so close to shelter, couldn't give up now.

Alec wrapped his arms around Rin's shoulders and sneezed. "Rin-niichan...is that the black dot we're looking for?" He asked, pointing ahead of them.

Rin-niichan? Been a while since anyone had called him that, but he wasn't about to bring it up right then. Not when he could barely think straight.

"Y-yeah... that's--"

A coughing fit overtook him, and only seconds after he had hauled Ratchet to his feet he dropped to his own knees, holding hands to his chest as he tried to fight the coughing back.

"C-crap..." he groaned. "Can't--... we're almost there..."

"Shit...come on Rin. We're almost there." This time Ratchet reached down to try and help lift Rin up onto his feet.

"Just a bit further. You can do it. We survived this long, right?"

Alec squeaked and tumbled into the snow as Rin fell. He shook Rin's shoulder, "Rin-niichan, you have to get up!" Clutching the blanket around his shoulders he was doing his best not to cry. His parents would know what to do. Daira would know what to do. He bit his lip and looked around them. They were still a ways away from the structure.

He just wanted them to get there, so he could get to Daira and his parents. Alec closed his eyes, the image of the small structure burned into the back of his mind. Then there was a popping noise and he was gone, the blanket fluttering to the ground.

Rin wanted to believe Ratchet. Wanted to respond to Alec and tell him everything was going to be alright. But he could barely find the strength in his hands to even embrace the boy, let alone find the courage to look at their situation and see any hope in it.

And then... Alec was gone. Just like that. His partner left behind, along with his D-Comm, but the boy had just... vanished.

"... A--... Alec-kun?!" Rin called out fearfully, only the lonely sound of the wind reaching his ears. Where had he gone? Yggdrasil couldn't have just taken him away, not when his D-Comm and partner were still right there. So... he had to still be out there somewhere.

"ALEC!" Rin roared loudly, blue flames erupting from his body, flashing a light in the white snow.

Ratchet turned to look when he heard that popping noise. He was gone, just like that. But how? Yggdrasil? No, the D-Comm was still in Rin's hand. Maybe he got juggled to another part of the world? Or maybe teleportation somehow? Shit. He just didn't know. Though his thoughts were broken when the fire erupted around Rin.

The Lombax jumped back, letting go of the half demon and looked at his hand. No burn at least. It was weird...the fire only felt warm. He materialized his Plasma Striker again and looked through the scope, scanning the area...when he spotted someone.

"I think I see him! He's...he's by the structure!"

For Alec, he wasn't along outside the compound for long. A door opened and a small creature, smaller than Ratchet stepped out. He was white with black marking over him, orange and black eyes and a golden diamond on his forehead.

His eyes landed on Alec and he raised a brow. Only a small child had set off the alarms of his compound. But how? Could it be the displacement factors happening around the world? Possibly. Wait...he saw this boy's picture on the network. He belonged to that woman.

"Alecsander Edwards, I presume?"

The unexpected teleportation left Alec disoriented. He blinked up at the falling snow until Finitevus spoke to him. Jumping up, he quickly regretted it, feeling dizzy and falling back over into the snow. "Its 'Doctor Livingston I presume'...actually."

He had no idea what he'd done, but this was a person, which meant this person could help Rin-niichan and Ratchet-kun.

"... good..." Rin groaned, trying to keep his flames going for a little bit longer, just long enough for... someone to see where they were. He just couldn't get up, and even his own power was sapping strength.

It only lasted a few minutes more (but that would have been enough for anyone looking out in the snow to see the blue light flickering) before he finally gave in to his exhaustion.

"... Ratchet... I jus' wanna go... 'ome..." he mumbled before slumping to his side as the flames dissipated, eyes closing and consciousness slipping from the half demon.

Ratchet gasped and ran over to Rin, grabbing him and pulling him out of the snow.

"Rin! RIN! WAKE UP!" He shook the half demon, trying to wake him up. He couldn't lost another friend. Not again. Not now! "RIIIIIIIN!"

"Cleaver boy. Now, my boy, please tell me how you got here. I am quite curious." Finitevus smiled at the boy, his eyes looking him over slowly.

Alec looked up at the strange creature. His parents had warned him about speaking to strangers, but it was possible this thing could help them. "Iunno...I was thinkin' that we wanted to be here, rather than way over there in the snow. And here I am."

What an interesting power the boy seemed to possess. Perhaps this could be used later to his advantage. But he said we, so there were other people near?

"We? And where are these others? Are they where that blue light was?" He pointed off to the distance where he saw a moment ago.

Off in the distance Ratchet just held Rin, his eyes growing heavy. He wasn't strong enough to lift the half demon on his own and carry him that far. But he did have one thing; the hover boots. He pulled Rin as close to him as he could, trapping the unconscious boy's arms around his shoulders. He hit the thrusters and started the boots. They picked him up out of the snow and they started making their way forward, the wind still whipping at the Lombax and the half demon.

Ratchet only got a few feet, however, until the boots shorted out and both when tumbling into the snow, the Lombax landing face first in cold powder. It was too much; too cold, he was too tired, and the world was spinning too damn fast. All he could do was close his eyes and let the darkness take him.

Nodding, Alec looked over the creature. He'd gotten used to the comic like characters that ended up in the Digital World. He wasn't like anyone he'd seen so far. "Are you gonna help us?"

The doctor nodded and snapped his fingers. "Yes, I will." A tall Black XV-mon exited the bunker behind the doctor and a golden ring opened up not far from the three of them.

"Black, there are some unfortunate souls out there we need to bring inside. Fetch them for us and I'll take Alecander here inside. Shall we?" He motioned to the door for the boy to enter first while the digimon stepped through the ring and vanished.

"It's Alec." He said with a pout. It was only when he was in trouble that he was called by his full name. Wobbling, Alec pushed himself up, only to fall back down into the snow.

"Here Alec, let me help you." Finitevus reached down and picked Alec up before walking into the bunker. It was much warmer in the structure, a warm fire flowing in the pit in the middle. He set Alec down on one of the chairs before grabbing a blanket to drape over him.

Black XV-mon soon returned, pulling Rin, Ratchet, and Alec's partner into the bunker and closed the door with his tail. The digimon put Buwny down first before setting both tamers down on cots away from the fire and began to undress both of them.

"We should get those wet clothes off of you Alec, else you will get sick. I will fetch you a pair of new clothes."
