Who: Isaka Shinkurou, Okumura Rin, Ratchet, Onizuka Haku
What: Waking up after an ordeal
When: February 20th
Where: Neon General Hospital
Isaka checked the two patients' vital signs and made notes in their charts. Both of them were a welcome change from his normal fare, but for different reasons.
The strange creature named "Ratchet" was definitely interesting from a biological standpoint, although treating him was a bit complicated without a proper baseline. Fortunately, there was already some information on file for him, along with instructions that he be restrained while undergoing treatment, apparently after an earlier escape.
The other patient, Okumura Rin, was a different story. Isaka set the chart down on the bedside table and unwrapped one of the bandages. Rin appeared mostly human (with the jarring exception of a tail of all things), but after his long experience with Dopants, Isaka could sense the well of power within him. It wasn't a Gaia Memory - he'd already checked for a port - but something innate. His tongue darted out to lick his lips quickly. He would have to find out as much as he could while Rin was here. He continued his examination, taking his time as he went. It was unfortunate that he couldn't perform a vivisection on the boy.

"I...want...out of...here..." He wheezed and looked up at the doctor with a weak glare. Why the hell was he here? Who brought him here? He was going to kick someones ass for this.

"Ratchet..." a female voice said from the doorway. Rin looked up to see a very worried Haku Onizuka standing there, hand on the door frame and a bag in her other hand. She had heard the doctor speaking to him as well, and the long list made her heart sink as well. She knew he was made. She had known he was going to be mad as soon as she brought him and Ratchet there. But there was nothing she else she could do.
She slipped in to the room and went to the other side of his bed, sitting down on the edge of it so she could take his hand comfortably.
"I'm sorry. I know you're mad, but you would have died if I hadn't brought you here... no one is going to hurt you here, though. We're only trying to help."

"Whatever. Fine." He laid back and looked up at the doctor. "You win this time." Even he couldn't argue with the logic that was used against him. Well he could but he didn't want to. That would be admitting something he had been trying to hide and he wasn't that dump to just spill it here in front of Rin and Haku.

"... maybe when you're a little better we can take you home, Ratchet..." she said quietly, though her voice was practically a whisper and easily drowned out by the doctor speaking.

"And no anesthesia. Gives me nightmares." He finished and closed his eyes again. This place sucked so much. He looked up at Haku and just stared for a moment before nodding. "Yeah. I'd like that."
no subject
"Thank you, this is very helpful. Assuming nothing out of the ordinary occurs, I don't anticipate any need for further anesthesia, so you have nothing to worry about in that regard." He returned the chart to the foot of the bed. "Do either of you need me to increase your painkillers?"

Rin sat back in his bed with a sigh, already feeling annoyance at being stuck there.
"No, I'm fine," he said, fidgeting absently with his IV.

"I believe it will be safe to give you a morphine drip, although I will need to monitor it to ensure that you do not have an adverse reaction. It should prove much more effective than your current medication. I will make the arrangements. You should not be waiting long." He stopped at the door and gave a slight bow before leaving.

"Why did you two leave?"
"I wasn't just going to stand around doing nothing, Onizuka-san," came Rin's answer, no hesitation in his words at all. He knew Haku and Yukio and probably Bon even were upset with his actions, but he didn't regret what he'd done.
"You could have stayed and helped at the Hyperion! Both of you!"
"Yukio was needed there more than I was."
"... you still should have told him."
Rin just grunted at that, looking away. Yukio wouldn't have let him go. They both knew that.

"You wouldn't have let me go and Yukio wouldn't have let Rin go. We wanted to protect everyone by taking on the main threat." The Lombax spoke, his eyes staring up at the ceiling. It was less awkward for him this way.

Haku looked at her hands, remembering how insane it had been in Neon City, and how much she wanted to protect everyone but she couldn't. Rin and Ratchet had taken that one step further and gone to the source.
She'd be lying if she said she would have if she had any way of helping.
"I was worried."

"Thank you for worrying though."

She sighed, tugging on her hair, running her fingers through it over her shoulder.
"And... as upset as we were... it was really brave, what you two did."
"... brave and stupid."
"Guys are good at that sort of thing."

"Good..."
He really didn't want to go through the end of the damn world just to find out some one had wound up dead, or in a coma or severely injured.
"... are you okay?"
"... me? ... well aside from losing my leg and winding up on a roof in Axyori..."
"You lost your whole LEG?"
Haku laughed nervously, scratching the back of her head.
"Yup. Just... poof. Gone. I mean it was ripped off before that but when I landed in Axoryi after the reset it wasn't there."
