Who: Duo Maxwell, Yuri Lowell
What: Checking in after several weeks on the mend.
When: March 21st, Midday
Where: Magical Tea Shop, Axoryi
For the past several weeks, everyone in Yuri's circle of friends was either wounded or sick. Estelle and Rita had been let out of the hospital, but they were more or less still confined to bedrest. Likewise, Duo had been out of action with illness, and through him, the entire teashop had shut down.
Thinking on how much of Yuri's life revolved around that teashop had been a favorite past-time of his while he was taking care of his wife and friend.
Still, now that Duo was back open for business again, Yuri needed to get out of the house. AND he had to get news on Estelle's place of employment back to her somehow. The allure of free baked goods had absolutely nothing to do with it at all.
So, shortly after lunch, Yuri and Repede made their triumphant return to the teashop, with one simple, practically rude demand. "Where is my lazy student who's been too sick to pick up his sword and get whalloped?"

He frowned and rolled his eyes. "On the minus side, she's still fretting about how you're doing without her," he added.
no subject
"We're doing fine. Tell her that. She can even call me if she's really that worried about it."

He made no move to pay for said muffin as he brought it to his lips. Just one of those endearing traits of his. He gave Duo a wide smirk as he took a bite from the muffin.

"Alright, alright, your evilness. I'll give her a call."

Repede snorted then, easily audible from well across the room, earning a laugh from Yuri. Yuri then leaned lazily against the counter and gave Duo a more serious look.
"So what the hell happened? We didn't get many details out of anyone, what with the end of the world and the life threatening injuries and all," he asked somberly.

"Well... I was here, we'd just opened... I couldn't get a hold of Kentarou at all even though he was my other opener. So I had to call Ahime in. We had a few customers and I was in the office when the shakin' started...
Sam hit her head pretty hard on one of the tables and I was looking after her with Ahime when I heard Dad come runnin' in. And that's when we saw the damn tsunami heading right for us..."
The quakes alone had scared the hell out of him. Even during his time on Earth he'd never felt more than maybe a little tremor here and there. But that wall of water heading for them... he was not ashamed to admit he was terrified in that moment.
"We managed to evacuate everyone but Dad wound up behind us as we were headin' up the hill to higher ground and got caught up in the flood waters. I managed to grab him with Finn's help but by the end of it we were soaked and freezing and pretty banged up."

Still, Yuri wasn't about to let that one get away without a little bit of teasing. "Yeah, if you'd grown up planet-side, you would'a had plenty of natural disasters to deal with. Two or three a month, mandatory," he said, his eyes twinkling with sadistic glee.
"But seriously... you sound like you didn't do too badly," he added, settling down again. "Can't say I'd have encouraged you to do all that, but neither can I say you did something stupid. You got your old man out?"
no subject
"Yeah, 'course. Got him out, got everyone to Axyori General safe. Like hell I was leavin' anyone behind in that. What else were we supposed to do? For all intents and purposes it really did seem like the world was endin' and it's not like we knew there was gonna be some convenient reset when it was all over."

He stepped over to the table Repede had settled at, and he sat down. "You're good at the whole hero thing," he said. "You gonna be okay in the head, though? A tsunami's enough to mess a guy up in the head for a while."

He grabbed two cups and one of the full pots, bringing it over to the table to join Yuri.
"Tch. I survived wars, man. A tsunami isn't gonna shake me up that bad."
Almost losing his dad, however...

Not that Yuri would leave words unsaid.
"So... do you want me to hit you now, or do you wanna dig yourself a little deeper?" he said.
Repede gave a snort that sounded utterly amused in contrast to Yuri's dourness.

He didn't even sound upset, just mildly annoyed. He'd come to expect that Yuri was going to smack him at least once a week for something he deemed to be on Duo's 'stupid' list

"Did your partner come through it okay?" Kotemon asked with concern.

"... I was scared, though. Not for me. For Dad..."
He didn't want to dwell on it. He was trying so hard not to think of the 'what ifs' lately.
"Finn is fine. Lazy as ever."

He nodded, and reached over to clap Duo on the arm. "Damn good job you did, too. A disaster like a Tsunami doesn't leave many survivors."
He smirked, puffing up slightly. "I guess my training's been paying off for you," he added.

He smirked a bit, shaking off the downcast expression while scratching the back of his neck with an awkward smile.
"I'm learnin' from the best, aren't I?"

Down on the ground, Repede's tail flicked once in response to the conversation.
"And your old man's doing okay now?" Yuri asked.
no subject
Pot calling the kettle black much?
"Yeah, he is. We were both pretty sick after, but it was nothin' a little RnR didn't cure."
